What are E-liquids?
E-liquid is the flavoured liquid that is added to the inside of an e-cigarette. When your vape kit is heated, this liquid will soak into the coil and produce the vapour that you inhale. So it’s a core component of any vape kit. You’ll also sometimes hear this referred to as vape juice.
What’s inside vape juice?
E-liquids are made up of three main ingredients including nicotine, propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). You will also have the choice of many different flavours to suit your preference and fulfil your vaping needs.
PG & VG
Choosing the right nicotine strength for you is an important part of vaping. Getting it right can make your experience much smoother. Most vapers will pick an e-liquid with nicotine in it, however, there are 0mg options for those who would prefer to go without.
What are the Different Types of E-Liquid?
All e-liquid will have a ratio of PG to VG. The base liquids are what deliver the nicotine and produce the vapour you inhale. Different ratios will affect the throat hit, amount of cloud and strength of flavour you experience. So, it's worth figuring out the ratio you want.
Nic Salt
Nic salt e-liquids are similar to regular 10ml E-liquids. However, they are distinctive in that they mimic the natural salts found in the tobacco leaf and contain higher concentrations of nicotine that provide a smoother throat hit such as VLTZ E-liquid.
Shortfill
Shortfills come in larger bottles with space to add a nicotine shot. The sizes range from 50ml to 150ml and are considered much better value than the regular 10ml. The high VG ratio means this juice is best suited for a sub ohm vape kit.
50/50 E-liquid
50/50 e-liquid contains an equal amount of PG and VG and best suits MTL vaping. These e-liquids are perfect for ex-smokers who are looking to begin their journey into vaping with a variety of flavours and strengths.
E-liquid Strengths
The nicotine strength you use should align with your personal preferences. For those trying to quit smoking this will usually depend on your history with cigarettes. Heavier smokers should start off with 18-20mg and slowly reduce. Whereas light smokers should use lower strengths such as 3mg to satisfy their cravings.

What is the best strength for new vapers?
We recommend new vapers to stick to a strength you're used to. New users in particular need to pay attention to the nicotine strength of their e-liquid. This is to ensure a smooth transition from disposables or smoking. If it’s too low you may still have a craving, but too much could leave you feeling sick. As a general rule, the amount you smoked previously can indicate which nicotine strength you should go for. For example, if you smoked 6-14 cigarettes a day then 10mg is the right choice for you!
Once you have become accustomed to vaping you can then begin to reduce your intake.
Direct to lung or mouth to lung vaping
Direct to lung (DL) is where vapour is inhaled directly to the lungs, essentially by taking a big breath. Mouth to lung is closer to traditional smoking, where you hold the vapour in your mouth for a short space of time before inhaling it into the lungs. Different e-liquids are better suited to each of these styles.
What E-liquid Is Best For Mouth To Lung Vaping?
The best e-liquid for mouth-to-lung vaping is 50/50 or a high PG vape juice that includes nic salts. However, most e-liquids would also be suitable for MTL vaping. For specific examples, you can check out our guide to ‘The Best Nic Salt E-liquids 2024’.
What E-liquid Is Best For Direct Lung Vaping?
The best e-liquid for direct lung vaping would be high VG or 50/50 liquid as these will provide a quality throat hit and flavour. For more information on direct lung vaping, you can read our guide to the best direct lung e-liquid.

E-liquid FAQs
How long should a 10ml bottle last?
Most vapers will use a full 10ml bottle of e-liquid in 2-3 days. However, this depends on how often you vape. Sub ohm vapers will go through a lot more e-liquid and in some cases need more than 1 bottle a day. Whereas, MTL vapers can last multiple days with the same amount.
It also depends on the nicotine strength. Someone using low strength vape juice will need more to get the same amount of nicotine as a high strength e-liquid. If you find yourself going through juice quickly then you may need to switch to a higher strength.
Which vape juice flavours are the best?
There’s a great number of flavours to choose from, but it all comes down to personal taste. Vape juice comes in different flavour profiles including dessert, menthol or fruit. If you’re new to vaping, it’s a good idea to explore our range of 10ml e-liquids. When you find one you love, then stock up with a few bottles.
Why has my e-liquid discoloured?
There could be several reasons why your e-liquid has discoloured. Oxidation is a leading cause and occurs when e-liquid is exposed to oxygen in the air. This is a natural process that shouldn't affect your health. If your juice has discoloured to a brown hue, this could mean your coil is burnt or deteriorating. If so, you should switch to a new pod or coil immediately to avoid damage to the kit.
Can liquid expire?
Most sealed e-liquids will last around two years. However, over time flavour and nicotine may diminish. Be sure to store your liquid in a cool and dark place to ensure it maintains its premium quality.

What does TPD Compliant mean?
TPD stands for the Tobacco Products Directive. The legislation signed by the EU and UK regulates the vaping and tobacco industry. The body controls manufacturing, presentation, and sale of tobacco and nicotine products within the EU.
It set laws such as the max nicotine strength of 20mg and set the size of vape juice bottles to 10ml.
The directive is designed to protect consumer health, ensure quality across products, and prevent underage use.
