High VG Eliquids
What Does High VG Stand For?
VG stands for vegetable glycerine, which is a core ingredient in vape juice along with PG. The two components offer a different vaping experience depending on how much of each is used. High VG e-liquid is designed to create large clouds of vapour but still offer a great flavour, perfect for sub-ohm vapers.
Is High VG Juice Better?
High VG juice is better for sub-ohm vaping. 50/50 PG/VG and high VG vape juice both have their benefits but for direct-lung vapers high VG juice is the ideal choice. The vapour production is much greater with high VG e-liquid making it ideal for cloud chasers. The flavour and throat hit may not be as strong as in other e-liquid, but when vaping at higher wattages, vape liquid with a more balanced PG/VG ratio can be too harsh and an overall unpleasant vape, whereas high VG vape juice offers a smooth vape even at the highest power settings. MTL vapers should go for a more balanced e-liquid as high VG vape juice can be too thick for high resistance coils, and the juice itself will not offer a strong enough flavour and throat it at lower wattages.
The majority of High VG vape juice comes as a short fill. This can be seen as better for a number of reasons. Firstly, short fill vape juice works out better value for money than 10ml vape juice, so vapers who are sticking with the same flavoured e-liquid will save money buying one bottle of short fill rather than multiple 10ml bottles.
High VG e-liquid is designed for sub-ohm vaping which goes through vape juice much quicker than MTL vaping. One bottle of 10ml vape juice would usually last a full day with a mouth-to-lung vaper, whereas a sub ohm vaper may need more than one 10ml bottle to last a day. A larger bottle means sub-ohm vapers won’t need to worry about running out of vape juice. Also using one larger bottle is less hassle than carrying multiple 10ml e-liquids, and short-fill vape juice is nicotine free allowing vapers to customise the strength of their e-liquid.
Is High VG Bad For Coils?
High VG vape liquid is designed for direct to lung vaping. High VG vape juice is difficult for high resistance coils to wick due to the smaller wicking areas, and because it is a thicker liquid. This can often result in dry puffs or even burning out the coil.
Coils all have a lifespan which depends on the vape juice type and how often they are used. Most coils will last up to 2 weeks before they need swapping out for a fresh one. But it is normal for coils to last much longer or as little as a few days.
There are a few ways to reduce the damage to the coil and improve longevity. Firstly mouth-to-lung vapers should go for a high PG vape juice or a 50/50 e-liquid as those are much thinner liquids which are designed for higher resistance coils and absorb more easily into the cotton wicking material.
Allowing time for the coil to soak up more e-liquid between puffs will help. With the thickness of high VG liquid it takes longer for the coil to saturate so vaping too much without allowing time for the coil to catch up will result in dry hits.
Lowering the power you’re vaping at will improve the lifespan of the coil. However, this will reduce the amount of vapour produced which for most high VG vapers is important. The best way to work around this is to find a balance which offers enough vapour but doesn’t use unnecessary power.
Sweet flavours are some of the best to choose from, but vape juice which contains high levels of sugar or sweeteners can carbonise to the wicking material over time which will affect how quickly the coil burns out. If you are set on sweeter vape juice this isn’t a major reason to switch, but vapers who use a variety of e-liquid flavours will notice a longer coil lifespan in vape liquid that is less sweet.
What Is The Best High VG E Liquid?
The best VG to vape depends on the coil’s resistance. For coils ranging from 0.5ohm – 1.0ohm e-liquid with a 30/70 PG/VG ratio offers great vapour production while still maintaining a quality flavour. Max VG vape juice is the go-to for cloud chasers. With 80% VG this vape liquid produces the biggest clouds with minimal throat hit. Below you will find some of the most popular high VG e-liquids.
