Almost a quarter of smokers will be affected
Did you know that roughly 24.5% of all smokers use some type of menthol cigarette or rolling tobacco? 2019 is the last year they will be able to buy menthol cigarettes and tobacco in the UK.
The TRPR regulations[1] came into force during May 2016, and as of 20th May 2020, these same regulations will no longer allow the sale of menthol cigarettes.
Although the use of menthol is popular, a lot of people aren’t actually aware that their cigarettes of choice will banned. This means that anyone who buys these types of cigarettes on a daily basis, may be left unexpectedly without them as they will no longer be available.
A lot of think tanks have the opinion that most of these smokers will transition to regular tobacco or switch over to a menthol flavoured e-cig. We are actively trying to help people break free from the chains of smoking, so obviously hope that smokers will instead turn to vaping.
