Appearance
In true Aegis fashion, the Boost Plus has gone with a rugged yet stylish design. With pleasing contours and tactile transitions between soft leather, cold metal and embossed rubber, this kit means business.
The Aegis Boost Plus is attentive to detail, from a well-positioned airflow control to the large coil activation button, every part has been carefully considered.
A brightly coloured screen complements the overall design and is well positioned for easy viewing. In addition, the use of a single 18650 battery helps elevate the Boost Plus above the original.
To finish, we of course have the usual water, dust and shock resistance, making the Boost Plus the best possible partner to have for the outdoors or for those with demanding jobs.
Far too often we see product ‘sequels’ released which fail to offer anything compelling. It’s reassuring to see GeekVape have taken the Boost Plus seriously.
Performance
Good looks aside, can the Aegis Boost Plus offer performance to match?
The push fit Boost G Coils are supplied with the kit, and are surprisingly adaptable to a wide range of liquid. I used the award-winning Urban Chase Cool Mango & Pineapple with the preinstalled coil (0.4ohm mesh).
The Aegis Boost Plus can really produce some great clouds of vapour, and replicated the flavour of my vape liquid beautifully. The same is true for the spare 0.6ohm G Coil, but I preferred using this with nic salts. The 0.02s coil activation is noticeably quick, adding another feather in this kits ‘cap’.
Adjustable airflow located on the top end of the pod was ideal for tweaking the vape experience to suit my personal preference. It simplifies often unnecessarily complicated systems.
A single 18650 battery powers the Boost Plus up to 40W, so the ability to swap it out with a fully charged one meant I wasted no time waiting for recharges.
The clear 0.96inch colour screen displayed all current vape settings with a simple glance down, and added an extra layer of customisation I appreciated.
In short, the Boost Plus provides great performance. Large clouds of tasty vapour, concise colour screen and removable 18650 battery all add to the appeal.
Ease Of Use
The Aegis Boost Plus is easy enough for almost any vaper to use, despite looking like an advanced piece of kit.
The Pods are detached quickly for coil changes, and a top fill system allows for simple top ups without having to remove anything. Vape settings can be adjusted using the + / – buttons, plus the side mounted charging port can be accessed quickly.
The device is also compatible with a selection of add-ons, such as a 510 connector for standard tanks and another for RDA enthusiasts (available separately).
Newer vapers may be hesitant at first, however the Aegis Boost Plus is simple to use, with very little experience required to operate it. Experienced vapers will find much to love here and find it a breeze to pick up and vape.
Price
Does the GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus warrant the higher price compared to the original? There is no doubt in my mind here; YES.
It can last up to 50% longer using a single 18650 battery, comes equipped with ultra fast coil activation and has a much better screen for starters.
Yes it isn’t the cheapest pod kit, but still very reasonable at £34.84 on our website (compared with £25.49 for the original). For me it ranks as one of the best currently around.
Target Audience
The Aegis Boost Plus is ideal for many different vapers and vaping styles. True MTL enthusiasts may find the Boost Plus less attractive due to the sub ohm coils, however most people will enjoy, as have I, the great performance and practicality offered.
It is a little more expensive than the original, coming in at £34.84, but it remains affordable for most budgets and is sure to last a good amount of time.
Verdict
The GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus is nothing short of a triumph. It took everything we loved about the original model, improved it and then some. It’s better in almost every conceivable way and it’s great to see GeekVape pay some much-needed attention to detail.
If you’re wanting a cheap and cheerful pod kit, the Boost Plus is not going to be for you, but if you want a quality device that can be used with lots of different vape liquid and offers virtually the same performance as a mod of comparable size, then you absolutely need this in your collection.
