Appearance
The Nautilus GT is a stunning tank/mod combination, relying on smooth and sleek lines with simple and effective design.
The Glint mod looks similar to the iStick Power from Eleaf, but this is no bad thing. A nicely rounded body means its a joy to hold, and the button positions are just right. Even the battery door opens in an intuitive way, highlighting Aspire’s attention to detail.
For those of you who don’t know who Taifun is, they have produced a number of high-end RTA’s, including the popular GT range. The Nautilus GT tank takes cues from this range, whilst still remaining easy to use.
The GT tank is sturdy and high quality. I love the amber coloured mouthpiece, and the stainless steel cage will help to protect it from the rigours of daily use. I also like the airflow design, which has 5 adjustable and precise settings to choose from.
The Aspire Nautilus GT certainly looks the part, and would sit proudly within any vapers collection.
Performance
So the Nautilus GT kit certainly walks the walk, but can it talk the talk so to speak? The Glint mod can power coils up to 75W using a single 18650 battery, which should be more than enough for most vapers, and is definitely more than enough for the GT tank.
The settings are easy to adjust, so with a quick glance at the clear OLED screen, the Nautilus GT was ready to go. I used the 0.7ohm mesh coil which came installed in the tank, primed it with my favourite MyVapors Blackcurrant 3mg, and set the power to 18W to start off.
Despite the Nautilus coils being around for a long time, the flavour was still very good, helped further by the use of mesh instead of traditional coils. I bumped the power up and settled around 23W for the remainder of my time with this coil. I have to say it was certainly my favourite one to use, and produced a good amount of vapour to say it was at a relatively low power setting.
The 1.6ohm coil is really aimed at MTL vaping, and if you have some nic salts or high strength nicotine, then this coil would be absolutely ideal.
The Aspire Nautilus GT tank itself was easy enough to refill, although I would have liked to have seen a sliding top system instead of the screw top they ultimately went with.
The airflow is quite unique and is designed with thick metal to help heat dissipate faster than other tanks. There are also 5 precise airflow settings to help you reach the ideal inhale that suits your vaping style.
Additionally the air channel does not waste incoming air, allowing it to travel straight into the coil to deliver a little more flavour according to Aspire, although I must admit that I didn’t notice anything drastic compared to my other tanks.
Overall, I was pleased with its performance. It really reminds me of the iStick Power and it was good to use something similar to that once again.
Ease Of Use
The Aspire Nautilus GT is really easy to use. It’s one of the reasons I keep comparing it to the iStick Power. The simple + / – buttons adjust the wattage and the OLED screen is simple enough for any vaper to understand.
The Glint mod is indeed one of the easiest things to use for vaping, and there are no settings to adjust other than the wattage. It might sound all a little ‘old school’ to some, but believe me when I say that less is more in this instance.
The USB-C port is a great addition, and the battery door simply rotates to open for easy access.
The Nautilus GT tank is nearly as easy to use. The only real complaint I have with it is that the top fill system is a screw top instead of sliding, which would have made it easier to refill in my opinion.
The airflow just rotates through 5 settings and the coil changes are also easy enough to do. Again Aspire and Taifun have gone for a more simplistic approach, keeping all of the innovative features tucked away so you don’t need to think about it.
Price
The Nautilus GT kit isn’t the cheapest around, but despite the simplicity you do get a lot for your money.
At £52.99 RRP (currently £45.04 on our site though!) you get a solid mod and a brilliant MTL tank. It’s also very high quality and does stack up well when compared to other kits which retail for a similar price.
If you want a kit to set you up for a while, then the Aspire Nautilus GT is absolutely worth the price.
Target Audience
Anyone. Absolutely anyone can pick up and use this kit. Obviously MTL vapers will gain the most from this, but the low resistance coils might find fans elsewhere too.
It’s clearly not just aimed at existing vapers though, newbies could get to grips with this in no time at all. Basically if you’re new or experienced, the Nautilus GT can fit the bill.
Those shopping on a tight budget might find the price a little steep, but its worth investing in.
Verdict
In short, I think it’s brilliant. It’s easy to use, intuitive when it needs to be, and works how you want it to.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this kit. It reminded me of my beloved iStick Power, whilst introducing something new. I have a soft spot for MTL vaping, and the Nautilus GT kit has helped to reignite that passion once again.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go and get yourself one!
