Featuring the new TPP X Pod
The VOOPOO DRAG X Pro is the latest iteration of the brand’s flagship device. Featuring a new pod and some upgraded tech, has VOOPOO improved on what is one of the most popular vape kits over the past few years? Read on to find out more about the DRAG X Pro, get our first impressions and where we think this lines up against the original and competitors.
Appearance
If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. This device keeps with the signature look of the VOOPOO DRAG X. This style has been replicated by numerous brands over recent years but non live up to the iconic look VOOPOO has maintained since the launch of the original DRAG X. The almost matte finished metal shell is wrapped in a cushioned leather-like material to create a premium look that is comfortable to hold. It also maintains the crisp colour screen which displays all the important vape settings.
At first glance you expect the pod to have a lot of weight behind it as it shares the appearance of old school sub ohm tanks. However, The TPP X Pod is deceptively lightweight. It features an easy-to-use top fill system and is compatible with TPP coils. For those who prefer MTL vaping the PnP pod is also compatible with this device although not sold with it.
Performance
As to be expected with a ‘Pro’ version of the DRAG X this kit features a larger output wattage allowing for vaping up to 100W compared to 80W previously. Although this is the same power as the VOOPOO DRAG X Plus there are other features that set it apart. One of these is the automatic draw option. Choose between manually controlling the vapour or automatically activate the coil by inhaling into the mouthpiece. Personally, I prefer to have control over my device so I can create a larger cloud of vapour. However, I do find I still use the auto draw option when casually vaping as its easy to pick and vape without pressing a button or looking at the device.
The DRAG X Pro is powered by a single 18650 battery which doesn’t come with the device but can be purchased separately. Once the battery runs out you can get back to vaping immediately by swapping it out for a fully charged one. If a spare isn’t available the battery can be recharged within the device using a USB-C cable.
Ease Of Use
The original TPP pod improved on the PnP pod by introducing a new range of VOOPOO coils. Now the TPP X pod improves on that further with its innovative top fill mechanism. To open push the button towards the top of the tank. While this is pressed down rotate the top of the pod clockwise to reveal the rubber bung covering the e-liquid inlet. Then remove the bung and top up with e-liquid remembering to not overfill the tank. Once done turn the top of the pod back into position.
Price
With the original costing £27.19 and the DRAG X Plus at £39.08 it sits in the middle on price. The VOOPOO DRAG X Pro is available at The Electronic Cigarette Company for £33.99.

Target Audience
This kit is designed for DL vapers who prefer vaping at higher wattages. The two TPP coils that come with the kit have large wicking holes. This makes them ideal for absorbing thick e-liquid to create large clouds of vapour. At the moment the TPP coils are only available in sub-ohm resistances. However MTL vapers can still use this kit with the PnP pod which is available with high resistance coils.
Verdict
The DRAG X Pro is clearly an improvement on the original. If you are looking to upgrade from your old VOOPOO device this should be your first choice. Alternatively, if you prefer a device with an integrated battery the VOOPOO DRAG S Pro is also available which is powered by a built in 3000mAh battery. When paired with Dinner Lady Fruits Berry Blast it delivers thick clouds of sweet and fruity flavour.
