A decent DL kit that is perfect for low to medium wattage.

VOOPOO has released two new entries into its Drag series of devices: the VOOPOO DRAG E60 and the VOOPOO DRAG H80S. Today we’re going to be looking at the removable battery version which is the H80S. This device has plenty of features which will satisfy most DL vapers. Also, the device is simple enough for new DL vapers to be able to grasp. Let’s take a look at the H80S and see what makes this a great device.
Appearance

The VOOPOO DRAG H80S is quite tall for an ecig, although it is quite slim. It fits a single 18650 that is hidden by a magnetic cover which features a pleather panel. The texture of this panel is quite comfortable to hold and doesn’t rattle at all. The rest of the mod is covered in matte finish metal, which again is quite comfortable to hold and looks pretty smart.
The new PnP pod tank might look a bit different, for those that are used to the older style of PnP pod. This is because, just like the E60, the H80S features VOOPOO’s new PnP pod tank. This new style of pod features a screw off top fill, which is a breath of fresh air with pod mods.
The mod features an adjustable airflow that is operated by twisting the pod. This airflow is very versatile and features lots of options for variable airflow. Also, this device features simple buttons which include the fire button, wattage controls and a USB-C charge port.
VOOPOO DRAG H80S – Performance
The DRAG H80S vapes amazingly well and supports lower and higher DL vaping. The two coils that are provided are a 0.3ohm (max 36w) and a 0.15ohm (max 70w). These are clearly marked on the packets that they come in, which I thought was a really nice touch. For the sake of testing I used the 0.15ohm coil at 50watts. For my choice of liquid I went for Zeus Juice Midas.
This device fires quickly, delivers good flavour and is consistent through the life of the battery. In brutal honesty I couldn’t tell the difference between the new PnP coils and the older ones. That’s not a bad thing though, because the older PnP coils were awesome.
The battery life was good. At 50watts I got easily a day out of the battery and used my Golisi S4 Smart Charger at night to charge my batteries. Generally, we recommend charging removable batteries with an external charger. Also, the kit has three different power modes: smart mode, RBA mode and eco mode. Smart mode automatically adjusts the wattage and lock it at the recommended range. RBA mode is your traditional power mode. Eco mode is new, VOOPOO claim that this mode extends your battery life by 10% as it focuses mainly on firing the coil. I didn’t notice a difference but I wasn’t really using it for long enough.
The only issue that I had with this device is the sleep mode that all Gene Chip kits have. If you leave the device unattended for around 5 minutes it starts to ‘sleep’. What this means is that the first time you press the fire button, it doesn’t fire.
Ease of Use
For a DL kit, the DRAG H80S is very easy to use. It has push fit coils that make changing your coils stupidly easy. Also, the screw off top fill on the tank is very easy to use. The menu on the mod also simplifies the use of the device. Smart mode means that you won’t be accidentally burning your coils through the wrong wattage and you can get into the menu by simply holding the up and down wattage buttons.
Price
The VOOPOO DRAG H80S costs £33.99.
The PnP coils are available at £12.99 and replacement pods are still TBC.
Target Audience
The VOOPOO DRAG H80S is designed as a mid wattage DL device. The 0.3ohm coil covers the lower end of the wattage range and the 0.15ohm goes as high as 70watts. Not as high as some DL vapers like, but this mod isn’t aimed at cloud chasers.
For low to mid wattage DL vapers, this kit is fantastic. I vape exclusively at around 50watts so I found that this kit was perfect. I used to vape at around 30-35watts so I can appreciate the lower coil too.
VOOPOO DRAG H80S – Final Verdict
A really decent DL kit, as long as you’re not looking for huge clouds. This kit is satisfying enough to give a decent amount of vapour, whilst being simple enough that even newer DL vapers will be able to use it. Being removable battery, the life wasn’t an issue as even if I forgot to charge it, I had spare fully charged batteries ready to go. The build quality of this kit is also fantastic. Well done VOOPOO, you’ve done it again.
