What does this mean for vapers?
Within yesterday’s budget, the Government announced a new levy on vaping products coming into the UK. This is a change from what was previously proposed by the last government which would have been based on the nicotine strength.
Instead this will be a flat rate of excise, equalling £2.20 per 10ml of liquid.
This decision has been taken in response to the outcome of the previous HMRC Consultation back in May.
A technical consultation on additional compliance measures has also been launched which sets out the Government’s proposals for vaping duty stamps and seeks views on options to limit illicit production of vaping liquids by placing controls on the supply chain of nicotine. The consultation runs until the 11th of December.
The UK Government have announced a revised version of the ‘Tobacco and Vapes Bill’ which will soon be introduced to parliament.
It sets to restrict vape flavours, packaging, displays, marketing, and sponsorship, with the aim to reduce youth vaping.
