Here Is What You Need To Know To Find The Right Vape Juice For You!
In this blog we will take a look at the different types of e-liquids available at the Electronic Cigarette Company. We will also provide a guide on which vape juice is best for your coil, kit and vaping preference. But first, lets explain what PG and VG are.
What Is The Difference Between VG and PG
Both of these are diluents which are what make up the majority of e-liquid besides the nicotine. Each has its own properties which make up the desired characteristics of vape juice.
Vegetable Glycerine (VG) is a thick substance that is designed to produce vapour when heated. E-liquid with a high VG content provides thicker and larger clouds of vapour while also delivering a smoother draw. As it is a thicker substance, high VG vape juice should be used with low resistance coils with large wicking areas. This will allow the e-liquid to be absorbed properly and create the best vape.
Propylene glycol (PG) is the other diluent which is much thinner than VG. It is the ingredient which carries both the flavour and throat hit. A high concentration of PG provides a closer sensation to smoking. This makes it suitable for new vapers struggling to quit. As it is a thinner liquid it is compatible with more coils.
What VG PG Ratios Are Available?
There are a number of different PG/VG ratios available to suite different vaping syles and kits. Here are the most popular choices.
50/50
This is the most popular ratio with most vapers as it provides a perfect balance of flavour, throat hit and vapour production. At the Electronic Cigarette Company we stock a huge selection of 50/50 e-liquids. Here is one of the standout ranges.
Vampire Vape is one of the leading e-liquid brands in the UK. Their 10ml range provides one of the biggest selection of flavours available. All of these come in a 50/50 PG/VG ratio making them suitable for both MTL and DL vapers. Plus, they are compatible with almost any vape kit. Try Award winning flavours such as Heisenberg and Pinkman.
70/30
This ratio is most commonly used in shortfill e-liquid and is much thicker than 50/50. This is due to the higher VG content. This e-liquid produces larger clouds of vapour and a quality flavour when paired with low resistance coils for Direct-Lung vaping.
One of the stand out 70/30 e-liquids is Norse Vape E-liquid. This popular brand delivers five rich flavours with a high VG content. As it comes in a large 100ml shortfill bottle it is nicotine free. However, all our short fill e-liquid comes with a free nic shot and this comes with two.
80/20
This 80/20 VG:VG e-liquid creates even bigger clouds of vapour than 70/30 e-liquid while still providing enough flavour and throat hit when used with high powered mod kits.
Double Drip Shortfill comes with a ‘Max VG’ content perfect for cloud chasing. Choose from 6 sweet and delicious flavours including Cyrstal Mist and Fizzy Cherry Cola Bottles. Like with all our shortfill e-liquid, you get a free nic shot.
100/0
Although we do not stock and vape juice with a 100/0 VG/PG ratio, you can create your own DIY Kit Vape Juice.
How To Choose The Best Ratio For You
Not every e-liquid is suitable or compatible with any vape kit. it is important to find the right ratio to suit your kit and vaping style.
Taste
If taste is the main characteristic you are looking for, the safest option is 50/50 e-liquid. This is because it delivers a well balance vape with great flavour for both MTL and DL vaping. A high VG e-liquid would still deliver a nice flavour when sub-ohm vaping but with a low powered MTL vape the flavour will be minimal.
Throat Hit
The throat hit differs depending on the amount of PV. High VG e-liquid will have a smoother throat hit. This is more suited to sub-ohm vaping the hit from 50/50 e-liquid can be too harsh when vaping at higher wattages.
Cloud Size
The higher the VG the bigger the cloud of vapour. If you are a cloud chaser, a vape juice with the highest amount of VG is the go-to. 50/50 e-liquid can still produce a fair amount of vapour but compare to 80/20 or 70/30 vape juice it doesn’t compete.
Know Your Coil
One of the most important factors is the coil. High resistance coils are designed for mouth-to-lung vaping. Anything higher than 60/40 VG:PG will be too thick for the coil to absorb. This can lead to dry hits and eventually the coil burning out.
