The GeekVape Sonder U is a very straight forward and simple kit to use. With a 1000mAh battery, disposable pod and auto-draw activation, this kit is an ideal start for new vapers or users of disposables. Let’s get into this GeekVape Sonder U review, shall we?
Appearance
The Sonder U aims for simplicity, and that’s exactly what it achieves. The box the device comes in is plain, simple and straight to business. When you open the box, all that you’ll find inside is a plastic packet with the kit inside and an instruction manual.
The kit itself sports a hard plastic shell with a textured finish. There’s also a metallic square on the front that may be confused with a fire button, but it’s not. There are 2 airflow holes on either side and the USB-C charge port is also on the side. One benefit to this device is that you can vape it whilst charging. However, you don’t get a charging cable with the device. It’s available in black, silver & red.
The single pod is magnetised and the magnets are quite strong, so no losing your pod unexpectedly. To fill the pod you simply remove a rubber bung on the side of the pod, which reveals the filling hole.
There is an LED light that flashes to indicate that you’ve dropped in the pod. It also lights up when the device is in use and when the battery is about to give up the ghost.
GeekVape Sonder U Performance
The GeekVape Sonder U vapes amazingly. I have reviewed a few pod mods recently and this one has to be one of my favourites. It has a very smooth draw to it, and is quite airy for an MTL device. You could cover one of the airflow holes with a finger or a piece of tape, to restrict the airflow further if you wish. The 1000mAh battery means that the device will last most MTL vapers all day. The USB-C charge means that the recharge time is around 40 minutes.
If you’re getting this kit as your first device, I’d highly recommend buying spare pods. Just in case you get a bit eager when waiting for the coil to prime and accidentally burn it out. The auto draw on this kit is quite responsive, with no lag between inhaling and firing. The flavour given by the pods is great and consistent throughout the draw. For this GeekVape Sonder U review I was using Double Drip Raspberry Sherbet and the flavour was solid from start to finish.
The pod fills with a rubber bung, similar to most other open tank disposable pod kits on the market. The bung on these pods seems quite durable and won’t just snap off. It should easily last the life of the pod, unless you’re being really rough with it.
Ease Of Use
This kit is designed for no nonsense simplicity. From the disposable pods with their built in coils to the auto draw functionality, this kit is extremely easy to use. It even has USB-C to make charging your device quick and simple. There really isn’t anything about this kit that is complicated at all.
The only thing that makes this kit slightly more complicated is that it doesn’t come with a charging cable. But, USB-C cables are very easy to get hold of and as you can see, you can even buy them from us for as low as £0.99.
Price
The GeekVape Sonder U comes in at a very modest £9.49. Compared to devices such as the Vaporesso Osmall 2 and GeekVape Wenax M1 this device is definitely cheaper, but performs just as well. All in all, great value for money.
Target Audience
This kit is a well performing MTL kit, great for MTL vapers as a simple to use and no fuss kit. With the purchase of a USB-C cable, just in case, this kit would be a perfect starter kit. The draw on this device is a little airy, but as I mentioned earlier, it can be made tighter by covering one of the two airflow holes. In my opinion this kit would also suit RDL vapers as a secondary device to take out and about, as the draw is quite loose.
GeekVape Sonder U – Final Verdict
The GeekVape Sonder U is a fantastic little device. It vapes consistently and had great flavour. The battery life is certainly nothing to sniff at. And, the price of the kit makes this certainly a simple device to use. It’s not the only open tank disposable pod kit on the market, but it certainly holds its own amongst the competition.
