A quick guide on how to clean your e-cig.

In this article...
Cleaning your e-cig is important. If you’re anything like me then you take pride in your kit, especially if it’s new, buffing off every fingerprint and smudge. But, peace of mind isn’t the only reason to keep your device clean. Bacteria can gather on your kit and at the end of the day it’s something you regularly hold and put to your lips. Also, flavours can mix if you switch them without rinsing out your tank. Here’s a handy guide on how to clean your vape.
How to clean your tank.
Disassemble your tank.

If you’re using a pod device you don’t need to do this. So, pull out your coil and move onto the next step.
Firstly you need to disassemble your tank. This is my VOOPOO UFORCE-L tank from the DRAG 4. In the picture you can see the base, screw off cap, airflow ring, mouthpiece, glass and main body of the tank. This is a messy job, so it’s probably better if you do this over some tissue or a sink.
Bare in mind that not every tank has removable glass, so make sure that you can remove it before you try.
Rinse your tank using warm water.

To remove the liquid and dirt from your pod or tank, the easiest method is to simply run it under a warm tap. For pod users this is pretty much the only way to clean your tank, as getting tissue inside can be a chore.
If your tank is especially dirty then you can fill a container with warm water and add a bit of soap. Make sure that you properly rinse it after it’s been soaked though.
Once the tank is all clean it needs to be dried. Water and coils don’t mix very well, so make sure you let it air dry or use a cloth or tissue.
Put it back together and refill.

If you’re replacing the coil you can pop it all back together and fill your tank back up with your liquid of choice.
If you’re using a new coil it’s important to prime it before use. Priming a coil improves the lifespan and stops it from burning instantly. All you have to do is add a few drops of liquid to the inside of the coil so it’s nice and saturated.
If you want to err on the side of caution, you can always leave it for 5-10 minutes before vaping. This allows extra time for the wicking material to soak up the liquid.
How to clean your vape mod.

Cleaning your battery/mod, unfortunately, isn’t as simple as cleaning your tank. You can’t just run it under a tap. Well that is unless you want a broken e-cig.
You can use a damp cloth or tissue to wipe down the surfaces of your device. If you’re feeling particularly fancy, you can use an anti-bacterial wipe to ensure that it’s as clean as possible.
One spot on your kit where grime can build up, especially if you charge removable batteries, is the charge port. I usually use a pin to flick the debris if there is any in my port. But, this can damage the connections inside the device if you’re heavy handed. If in doubt a quick blast of air should work.
