What Exactly is Shortfill E-liquid?

Short fill vape juice is one of many different types of e-liquid. This form of vape liquid contains a high VG ratio and comes in a larger bottle compared to other e-liquids. Vegetable glycerine (VG) is one of the main ingredients in e-liquid. It is a thick liquid that creates vapour when heated, whereas the other main ingredient PG (propylene glycol) produces the flavour and throat hit. This PG/VG ratio determines the strength of these properties. High PG e-liquid produces less vapour while having a stronger flavour and throat hit. High VG vape juice produces more vapour with a weaker flavour and throat hit.

Although a weaker flavour may seem like a negative, it actually produces a better flavour when used with sub ohm vape kits. This is because High VG e-liquid is designed to be vaped at higher wattages with low resistance coils, as this will produce more vapour. The more vapour produced the stronger the flavour and throat hit. A high PG e-liquid vaped at a high wattage will be overpowering and unpleasant, with the vape and flavour too intense to get a satisfying taste.

The high VG content makes shortfill vape juice ideal for direct-lung vapers and cloud chasers. These types of vapers use lower resistance sub ohm coils which absorb and heat up more e-liquid at a quicker rate, producing thicker clouds of vapour.

Sub ohm vaping goes through more e-liquid than other methods and therefore requires multiple 10ml bottles of e-liquid depending on how often you vape. Shortfill e-liquid provides a solution to this as it comes in larger bottles, most commonly in 50ml and 100ml. This allows vapers to carry all the e-liquid they will need in one bottle.

How Do You Mix Shortfill E Liquid?

E-liquid over 10ml cannot be sold containing nicotine, meaning all shortfill e-liquid comes nicotine free. However, the bottles come with a removable top and extra room for nicotine to be added after it has been purchased.

To add nicotine to a short fill e-liquid, take off the lid and remove the cap with the filling nozzle on the shortfill bottle. This will allow access to fill the bottle with a nic shot. A nic shot contains a strong concentration of nicotine and is designed to be added to nicotine free e-liquid to create a vape juice with a strength of your choice. Remember to wear protective gloves or something to cover your hands as the nicotine can be absorbed through the skin if any is spilt. Also note that nic shots are not designed to be vaped by themselves. Although not unsafe to do, the experience will be extremely unpleasant and provide no taste as it is a flavourless liquid.

Once the nic shot has been added to the short fill, attach the cap and lid back onto the bottle and shake well. This will mix the nic shot in with the shortfill e-liquid. Allow up to a minute of shaking to ensure the nicotine has been evenly spread through the e-liquid. It is then ready to vape.

Every shortfill e-liquid at TECC.co.uk comes with a free nic shot, so there is no extra cost to our customers.

Although the end strengths seem small, remember that vapers who use high VG e-liquid go through a lot more e-liquid that other types of vapers. So, the nicotine intake can differ depending on the strength and the amount of e-liquid used.

For example a DL vaper using a 0.3ohm shortfill e-liquid can still intake as much nicotine as an MTL vaper using a 1.2% strength e-liquid. This is because the mouth-to-lung vaper will only require one 10ml bottle for a full day of vaping whereas the direct-lung vaper will need much more.
