Does Vapour Hang Around?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nope! Unlike cigarette smoke, which can linger in the air for around 30-45 minutes, vapour evaporates in seconds after exhaling. A study<\/a> from 2018 found that even in a room with no ventilation, the aerosol dissipated so quickly that the air returned to base levels within seconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, cigarette smoke has a nasty habit of staining walls and furniture a horrible shade of yellow. Vapour does leave residue that dirt and dust can stick to, but it can easily be wiped away using a damp cloth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s also no lingering smell when vaping indoors, unless you’ve literally just been puffing away that is. Cigarette smoke lingers in fabrics and the odour persists until cleaned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Hand Vapour<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While second hand vapour isn’t anywhere near as bad as second hand smoke, there still can be issues when vaping around others. Cats in particular can be allergic to two components in e-liquid<\/a>, PG and nicotine. Also, people can be sensitive to the vapour itself if they suffer from respiratory issues. Dogs don’t normally have any known allergies to vape chemicals, but can lick the residue that settles on surfaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copying Grown-Ups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not really a risk for pets, but children are at risk from mimicking adults. Younger kids learn from doing what the grown-ups around them do, so if they see them vaping they could try to copy it. To prevent this, try and limit your vaping to a different room and definitely keep all vaping supplies and devices out of reach of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire Risk<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With smoking there’s an obvious fire risk as you’re dealing with fire. A stray ember is sometimes all it takes for a fire to start in the right conditions. E-cigs<\/a> don’t carry this risk, though some have experienced sparking and batteries failing. This usually occurs when the device isn’t being charged using recommended equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, it is safe to vape in your home. At the end of the day it’s your decision, but there are no major downsides to vaping inside and no lasting effects. But, I’d say the most important thing is to be respectful of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
