Electronic Cigarettes and cigarette looking chewing gum to be banned in Russia!

no smoking russia

It was reported recently by the Vedomosti newspaper, that Russian MP’s intend to ban e-cigarettes and chewing gum that look similar to cigarettes.

The recently passed law ‘on protection of public health from exposure to tobacco smoke’ which Lawmakers propose to amend to strengthen measures to tackle smoking and the promotion of any smoking products. The ban will inhibit the use of imitation of tobacco products that are not categorised as such.

According to the new bill, electronic simulators of smoking (electronic cigarettes), chewing gum made in the form of cigarettes, and even any cylindrical and white cigarette-looking item will be banned.

On December 14th 2012, the parliament passed the anti-smoking law in the first reading.  Prior to the second reading, the draft document receives more and more restrictions.  Lawmakers currently discussed the opportunity of introducing a 3,000-ruble fine (£65) for smoking in public areas.
